The rider roster dynamics inside the Honda garage took another intriguing twist as the manufacturer welcomed yet another face to tackle the rigorous final stretch of the championship. The decision to bring in fresh blood directly from the Superbike paddock highlights the clever adaptability required during a relentless triple-header phase.
This latest addition adds to the extensive list of riders who have sampled the RC213V prototype machinery throughout the season. The personnel shuffle was triggered when Joan Mir was forced to withdraw following physical struggles stemming from the San Marino Grand Prix weekend, leaving team management scrambling for viable alternatives.
Rather than calling upon other established test options, team boss Alberto Puig turned his attention to the competitive Superbike standout. The British rider admitted that the unexpected phone call came at a time when he simply wanted more racing action after finding strong form late in the year.

"My Superbike season was far from easy, and a wrist injury even threatened my career at one point, but I fully recovered and finished on such a high note that I actually regretted the season was over," the rider explained regarding his sudden call-up.
Furthermore, he emphasized the liberating atmosphere inside the pit box, noting that management had completely lifted any performance expectations from his shoulders.
"The crazy thing is that Alberto Puig and crew chief Santi Hernandez took all the pressure off my shoulders. It is simply about riding and hopefully learning something useful for both sides, because riding one of the best bikes in the world without pressure is unbeatable," he concluded.
