Jack Miller has officially closed his long chapter in MotoGP and started a new adventure with the Pata Yamaha factory team in WorldSBK from 2027. The decision came after Yamaha opted not to renew his contract at Prima Pramac Racing, leaving him without a seat. Miller signed a two-year deal, securing his future in the world superbike championship.
Miller's departure had been rumored since mid-season, when Yamaha and Pramac announced they would part ways after 2026. The Japanese manufacturer preferred to rejuvenate the team with young talent from Moto2, Izan Guevara, for a long-term project ahead of the new 2027 regulations. The 31-year-old Australian eventually lost his place on the premier class grid.
Declining performance was a key factor in Miller's exit. After two difficult seasons at KTM, he moved to the Yamaha M1 project with a V4 engine in 2026. However, the package was considered less competitive, making it hard for Miller to fight at the front. His race results kept sliding, reinforcing Yamaha's decision to seek a new face.
Despite that, Miller doesn't want to dwell on disappointment. He says he still loves racing and sees WSBK as an exciting new challenge. Joining Pata Yamaha, he will ride a familiar bike but face different regulations and rivals. This marks a fresh chapter for the Australian rider.
Miller's move to WSBK also brings fresh energy to the championship. His experience and aggressive riding style from MotoGP are expected to add spice to the superbike competition. Yamaha hopes Miller can help the team fight at the sharp end while mentoring younger riders.
Thus, Miller's MotoGP career, which began in 2015 with Honda, then Ducati, KTM, and finally Yamaha, has officially ended. All eyes are now on how he adapts to the new world of WorldSBK and whether he can rediscover his best form on track.
