Isack Hadjar Disqualified Miami 2026, Here’s Why

Isack Hadjar was disqualified from Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix 2026 qualifying after his Red Bull Racing car was found to be in breach of FIA technical regulations during post-session scrutineering.

The issue was identified on the RB22 floor, where both the left-hand side and right-hand side floorboards were measured to be protruding beyond the permitted reference volume. The deviation was recorded at two millimetres, exceeding the strict dimensional limits defined under the 2026 regulations.

This non-compliance falls under Article C3.5.5 of the FIA Formula 1 Technical Regulations, which governs the geometry and tolerance of floor components. Any breach of these parameters is treated as a technical infringement, resulting in automatic disqualification from the session.

The FIA technical delegate referred the matter to the stewards, who confirmed the disqualification after reviewing the findings. Notably, the team did not dispute the measurements or conclusions, effectively accepting the ruling without appeal.

From a technical standpoint, the violation is linked to a new floor introduced by Red Bull as part of its Miami upgrade package. Floor geometry is a critical performance area under ground-effect regulations, and even minimal deviations can alter aerodynamic load while breaching compliance thresholds.

Team principal Laurent Mekies acknowledged the error, stating that no performance advantage was intended or gained. However, FIA regulations apply strict liability to technical compliance, meaning intent is not considered when determining penalties.

As a consequence of the disqualification and subsequent car changes, Hadjar will start the race from the pit lane instead of his original ninth-place grid slot. The setback significantly complicates race strategy and highlights the importance of precision in technical execution as development intensifies throughout the 2026 season.
