Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Isack Hadjar has stated he is worthy of his place at Red Bull Racing after being promoted to partner Max Verstappen for the 2026 Formula 1 season.

The French driver earned the opportunity following a solid rookie campaign in 2025 with the Red Bull junior outfit. He replaced Yuki Tsunoda, who struggled to deliver consistent results throughout the previous season.

The second seat at Red Bull has historically been one of the most demanding roles in Formula 1, with multiple drivers unable to match Verstappen’s pace and consistency in recent years. This context has placed immediate scrutiny on Hadjar’s promotion.

Hadjar acknowledged the challenge but emphasised his confidence in his own ability to compete at the highest level.

“Of course I thought about it. When you look at the gaps between Max and his team-mates, it seems unusual. But I’m realistic. It’s a new regulation era, and we have the same car,” Hadjar explained.

He underlined that self-belief remains central to his approach, stating that his early-season performance has aligned with his expectations.

Across the opening three rounds of the 2026 season, Red Bull Racing has struggled to match its usual front-running form. Hadjar’s best result so far has been an eighth-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix, marking his only points finish in that period.

Despite the limited results, Hadjar expressed satisfaction with his performances, particularly given the challenging nature of the current car.

“It’s a small sample, and the car is quite difficult to drive at the moment. But I’m not too far off, and I’m happy with how I delivered in those first three races with what I had,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of adapting to the new regulations and extracting performance from a car that has yet to reach its full competitive potential.

With Red Bull facing increased competition at the start of the season, Hadjar’s role as the second driver is critical in supporting the team’s points accumulation and technical development direction.

Looking ahead, his performances will be closely monitored as a key indicator of whether he can consolidate his position within the team and contribute meaningfully to Red Bull’s championship ambitions in a highly competitive 2026 campaign.
