A major strategic move has been officially locked in for the future of the Japanese manufacturer's premier class campaign. Honda has officially confirmed that Diogo Moreira will step up to the factory MotoGP team for the upcoming 2027 season, where he is set to partner Fabio Quartararo in the factory garage.
This major announcement simultaneously clarifies the next career step for David Alonso. Having reached an agreement with HRC months ago for a premier class promotion in 2027, the talented youngster will instead debut with the LCR satellite squad, taking over the seat vacated by the Brazilian.
Moreira's consistent displays and standout moments in Moto2 have successfully convinced the Japanese executives. Sitting 15th overall with 74 points, level with Quartararo, he stands as Honda's second-highest ranked rider behind Luca Marini, highlighted by strong finishes including a sprint podium at Motegi.

Reflecting on his milestone promotion, the rider expressed immense gratitude to HRC for believing in his potential. Meanwhile, Alonso transitions to LCR under the guidance of crew chief Santi Hernandez, preparing for his highly anticipated arrival in the premier division.
