The Formula 1 qualifying session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez delivered intense drama within the Ferrari garage as Lewis Hamilton masterfully secured a stunning pole position. The seven-time world champion put together a brilliant single-lap performance to claim the 105th pole of his illustrious career in motorsport.
This achievement marks a massive milestone for the British driver, representing his first pole position since the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix and his very first starting from the front in red overalls. It underlines a significant breakthrough during his ongoing campaign with the Maranello squad in Mexico City.
Speaking over the team radio after race engineer Carlo Santi confirmed his P1 finish, the #44 driver expressed a mix of joy and immense relief toward the factory crew. "Ah! Thank you so much! It really took a very long time... Great job, guys! I am truly grateful for the commitment you have put in," Hamilton said, praising the team's relentless support.

On the other side of the garage, Charles Leclerc endured a frustrating end to his qualifying campaign. The Monegasque driver looked primed to lock out the front row for the Italian outfit, but a costly mistake on his final flying lap in Q3 forced him to settle for third place on the grid.
Leclerc did not hide his frustration over the team radio immediately after crossing the line. "A really terrible lap. The car felt quite different compared to the usual out-lap. Lewis did a good job, but I am really angry with how we managed the situation," Leclerc vented following the disappointing conclusion to his session.
