The race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit turned into a remarkable showcase of sheer grit as Jorge Martin clinched a stunning third place in the Qatar Grand Prix Sprint. Just two weeks after sustaining a wrist fracture at Phillip Island, the Aprilia Racing star delivered a performance to remember.
The Spaniard's Saturday began with massive physical hurdles. Awakening with severe pain in his right wrist, his qualifying session went completely sideways as he lacked the physical strength, ultimately forcing him to settle for an eleventh-place start on the grid.
"When I woke up this morning, I was very worried. My wrist was in much worse shape and qualifying went completely wrong. I had absolutely no strength left," Martin admitted regarding his difficult start to the day.

During the break between qualifying and the Sprint, the Italian manufacturer's rider focused heavily on recovery. Although he estimated riding at only around fifty percent of his full physical capacity, that resilience proved sufficient for a breakthrough result.
The turning point arrived when a heavy crash involving Francesco Bagnaia and Fermin Aldeguer triggered a red flag. The stoppage handed Martin a vital window to swap his rear tire compound.
"That gave me the chance to change my rear tire, because the first one was a complete disaster," he explained. Switching to a soft compound despite team doubts yielded crucial braking stability, helping him cope with his injured wrist.
Following the restart, Martin sliced through the field and briefly led the race after a dramatic incident involving Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi. Though ultimately overtaken by Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio, third place felt like a victory.
"It is amazing," Martin concluded. "I have worked incredibly hard at home. We handled the treatments very smartly and they helped me enormously."
