Liam Lawson is still waiting to learn whether he will remain on the grid next year despite enjoying his strongest season, with Racing Bulls yet to confirm its driver pairing.
The team is weighing up whether to retain Lawson and rookie teammate Arvid Lindblad or make room for Tsolov, whose Formula 2 performances have brought him into contention for a promotion.
Marko, who previously oversaw Red Bull’s junior driver program, believes the decision should favour the next prospect in line rather than Lawson’s experience.

Speaking to Austrian newspaper Krone, the former advisor explained his position by recalling the approach championed by late Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz when the organisation chose not to pursue Fernando Alonso.
“I agree with a saying by Mateschitz: ‘We don’t buy stars, we make stars.’ We’ve always looked for our own drivers who can win a Grand Prix. Apart from a few exceptions, it’s worked,” he said.
“In keeping with this philosophy, the difficult decision between Liam Lawson and Nikola Tsolov at Racing Bulls should actually go in Tsolov’s favour.”
The Bulgarian is second in the F2 championship behind Rafael Camara, who has already secured a Haas drive for 2027, while Lawson continues to fight for his long-term future in the top tier alongside world champion Max Verstappen's broader ecosystem.
