Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton showcased an incredible recovery drive after overcoming a major strategy misstep from Ferrari at the chaotic wet start in Sepang. Starting from second on the grid, the British driver plummeted down the order following an incorrect slick tyre choice.
The tricky damp conditions caught the pit wall off guard, leaving Hamilton over a minute behind the lead pack as rivals on intermediate tyres surged ahead. Despite knowing his race was severely compromised from the opening laps, he opted to stay out, weather the storm, and wait for the asphalt to dry.
As the racing line gradually improved, his pace skyrocketed, allowing him to carve through the field with impressive determination. The remarkable comeback culminated in a brilliant overtake on Red Bull youngster Isack Hadjar for third place with just three laps remaining in the race.

Reflecting on the dramatic recovery and upcoming team debriefs, Hamilton humorously joked about avoiding a trip to the casino with his strategists. Despite the early gamble gone wrong, he expressed immense gratitude and pride for the tireless efforts of his mechanics and engineering crew.
