Promising rookie Isack Hadjar was left fuming after a sudden technical glitch robbed him of a certain podium finish during a dramatic Bahrain Grand Prix held at the Sepang International Circuit. The French driver had showcased exceptional pace throughout the build-up to the race weekend, initially securing a strong third place in qualifying before a grid penalty demoted him down the order.
Opting for intermediate tyres alongside his teammate when the lights went out following a lengthy weather delay, Isack Hadjar executed a stellar recovery drive. He fought his way through the difficult conditions and found himself running comfortably in fourth place just as the final safety car was deployed in the closing stages of the Grand Prix.
A stunning twist of fate elevated him into the podium places in third after George Russell suffered a power unit failure directly in front of him. However, disaster struck immediately after the safety car period ended, as Isack Hadjar encountered a debilitating battery issue that left him powerless to defend against the charging Ferraris.

Speaking to the media via Crash.net, a bitterly disappointed Isack Hadjar reflected on the chaotic end to his race after crossing the chequered flag in fifth place behind both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. "I had no pace, but something was wrong. Even compared to Mercedes, where the whole weekend we were quicker. And now, in the race, we're absolutely nowhere," stated Isack Hadjar.
Elaborating further on the crippling failure, he added, "I don't know how we ended up having no battery. So in the straights, I can't defend against the Ferraris. We lose the position on something so stupid. Hamilton was 15 seconds behind me, and then in a couple of laps he was behind me. So when, the whole weekend I was really faster. We need to fix the issue back in Singapore and do better."
Alongside the energy recovery system troubles, Isack Hadjar revealed he struggled severely with tyre grip throughout the restart phase. While he watched his teammate Max Verstappen convert pole position into Red Bull's first victory of the season, the young rookie was left to ponder what could have been.
