Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dalligna could not hide his admiration after witnessing the exceptional performance delivered by Marc Marquez during the main MotoGP race at the Sepang International Circuit. This dominant victory not only widens the gap at the top of the riders championship standings but also strengthens the Italian manufacturers lead in the constructors championship over their closest rival, Aprilia.
Speaking to the media, the brilliant Italian engineer provided an in-depth analysis of how the eight-time world champion managed the race from the opening lap to the checkered flag. The biggest challenge at the scorching Sepang circuit always revolves around tire degradation management and maintaining a high pace, two elements that were executed flawlessly by the factory rider.
"Without a doubt, this is an important victory. The victories achieved at the end of the championship are probably the most important ones," Dalligna told DAZN. "I must say that Marc has put together a fantastic race, today it was not easy. You had to manage the tire issue well and go fast, which are two things that are not easy to achieve. And he managed to do both in a tremendous way."
Dalligna further highlighted the high-level adaptation skills possessed by the Spanish rider in taming the Desmosedici machine across varying track conditions. According to the engineer, the primary advantage lies not purely in the machinery itself, but in the riders intelligence to read situations and extract maximum performance from both the bike and his own physical condition.
"I believe he is the rider who can best adapt. It is not about the differences in the motorcycle, but rather to its difficulties and differences. So, a person who knows how to adapt and, if he finds a way, takes advantage of both the bike and his body in the best possible way, I think that is a fantastic capacity that he possesses and congratulations to him," the Italian engineer added.
Looking ahead to the final rounds of the season, Dalligna also emphasized the importance of maintaining absolute focus and avoiding unforced errors while leading at the front. The meticulous strategy implemented since the second half of the season, including securing maximum points during sprint races, has proven to be the key to the teams consistency in the title fight.
"It is easier to make a serious mistake when you are leading and at this moment it is not necessary," Dalligna explained regarding Marquez leading the entire race. "What we have to do is avoid mistakes, so we continue repeating the message we had since Mugello."
