MotoGP heads into the 2026 German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring for the final weekend before the summer break, with the title fight entering a crucial phase.
The recent run of races has created major movement at the front of the championship. Attention now turns to whether Marco Bezzecchi can respond after his heavy Assen crash, and whether his Aprilia team-mate Jorge Martin can keep the championship lead heading into the mid-season pause.
At the same time, Marc Marquez is again one of the central figures because of his outstanding record at Sachsenring. As the reigning world champion and a rider historically dominant at the venue, the German weekend represents an important chance to strengthen his position in the title battle.

Media Day at Sachsenring also placed the 2027 rider market firmly in focus. Martin discussed his decision to move to Yamaha next season, while maintaining his focus on scoring maximum points at the German Grand Prix with Aprilia.
There was also attention on Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's new 2027 line-up. Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio have been confirmed as KTM's factory pairing for next season, marking a reunion between the two riders as team-mates in the Austrian manufacturer's project.
Ai Ogura was another key figure in the discussion around MotoGP's next era. The Japanese rider is preparing to join Yamaha in 2027, where he will partner Martin and form an all-new factory line-up for the Iwata manufacturer.
The 2026 German MotoGP press conference featured Martin, Di Giannantonio, Ogura and Marquez as the main speakers. Each arrived with a different storyline, from the current title fight and future career decisions to the chance to maximise the final weekend before the summer break.
The German Grand Prix now becomes a major checkpoint for the championship direction before the second half of the season begins, with Sachsenring capable of giving significant momentum to the rider who closes the opening phase of the campaign strongest.
