Franco Morbidelli Returns at 2025 Austria MotoGP, Eyes Consistency

Franco Morbidelli of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing team makes his comeback at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix after missing the Brno race due to a shoulder injury. Fully recovered, Morbidelli is ready to compete at the Red Bull Ring while advocating for equal-spec Ducati bikes for all riders in the future. In-depth analysis of recent interviews reveals his focus on consistency and adaptation in the season’s second half.

Morbidelli has fully recovered from his shoulder injury, which sidelined him previously. “I tested the Panigale at Balaton Park and Misano, and my shoulder felt fine,” he said. However, he acknowledges the unique demands of MotoGP. “MotoGP is always different, so I need to adapt and assess my condition,” he added. Tests at Balaton Park and Misano were crucial in restoring his racing rhythm after the summer break.

Reflecting on the 2025 season’s first half, Morbidelli noted his competitive pace but lamented lost points due to errors. “We were fast but lost points in many Sprints and some GPs, like Jerez,” he stated. For the second half, his goal is to enhance speed while minimizing mistakes. “We need to be more consistent and limit errors to maximize results,” he emphasized, signaling a determined approach to improve.

Regarding his future, Morbidelli remains optimistic despite his one-year contract for 2025. “I’m not too worried about next year. The team and I are in constant talks,” he said. He welcomes Ducati’s potential plan to provide identical-spec bikes to its six riders in 2026. “It would be great. I’d want the best bike, though I haven’t tried the GP25 yet,” he noted, expressing enthusiasm for equal competition.

During the summer break, Morbidelli joined Ducati’s test at Balaton Park, Hungary. He described the track as “interesting and highly technical,” despite its narrow layout. “Safety-wise, I think it’s fine,” he said, dismissing prior concerns. He highlighted the challenge of adapting MotoGP bikes to new circuits like Balaton Park, with a focus on Michelin tire choices and technical adjustments for optimal performance.

Morbidelli’s return to the Red Bull Ring is a pivotal moment to prove his recovery and improve his season’s results. With proven speed and a focus on consistency, he has the potential for a strong showing. In-depth analysis suggests his ability to adapt to technical tracks and reduce errors will be key. Can Morbidelli reclaim his top form in Austria?
