Franco Colapinto has finally broken his silence to respond to the controversial joke made regarding his nationality by a well-known British television personality during a grand prix weekend. The remarks immediately sparked widespread discussion throughout the global motorsport paddock.
Ahead of the qualifying session, Jeremy Clarkson made a provocative remark during a live broadcast interview, suggesting that the young driver deserved a grid penalty simply because of his Argentinian heritage. The comment instantly drew intense media scrutiny.
The controversial statement was a clear reference to a past television production incident involving a sensitive historical diplomatic dispute in South America. The unexpected remarks quickly triggered heavy criticism from fans and officials across the international racing community.
The Alpine Formula 1 team swiftly issued an official statement distancing themselves entirely from the personal views expressed by their guest. The squad reiterated that such remarks do not align with their core values of promoting mutual respect and sportsmanship within the paddock.
The driver's management team also condemned the comments publicly, calling them completely unacceptable in modern motorsport. Meanwhile, the driver himself responded calmly, noting that he chose to focus his energy entirely on improving his sporting performance on the track rather than dwelling on outside noise.
