Filip Salac stormed to his first Moto2 victory at Silverstone on Sunday, capitalizing on a premature celebration from Manuel Gonzalez on the final lap. The Czech rider seized the moment, overtaking the championship leader at the last corner to clinch a historic win.
The race was a chaotic six-rider battle, with lead changes every lap. Gonzalez, who had dominated, slowed down prematurely, allowing Salac to snatch victory by 0.303 seconds over Ivan Ortola. It was a landmark moment for Czech motorsport, as no Czech rider had won in Moto2 since Karel Abraham in 2010.
Alex Escrig completed the podium after a late charge from eighth, while Izan Guevara faded to fifth after leading most of the race. The drama continued with Tony Arbolino crashing out from the lead group, and Aron Canet also failing to finish.
In the championship, Gonzalez still leads with 197.5 points, 42.5 ahead of Guevara. Senna Agius drops to third, while Ortola moves up to fourth.
