FIA single-seater boss Nikolas Tombazis admitted that a lack of competitive wet running this season prevented them from catching the issue sooner. "We didn't manage to test the software as extensively as we would have liked," Tombazis explained, noting how extreme low-speed driving unlocked the unexpected glitch.
Drivers voiced heavy frustration over the incident, with Sergio Perez labeling the situation unacceptable and Lando Norris criticizing the heavy electronic reliance of modern machinery. Nevertheless, officials praised the rapid response team that developed, issued, and installed a software patch within a tense 20-minute window.
Amidst the widespread paddock tension, Fernando Alonso offered a lighter perspective. Securing an eighth-place finish for Aston Martin, the veteran joked that races were never stopped when he suffered reliability woes earlier in his career.
