FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has firmly expressed confidence that the Formula 1 grands prix in Qatar and Abu Dhabi will proceed as scheduled amidst ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Concerns had previously been raised regarding the safety and feasibility of hosting the final two rounds of the championship in the region, which put drivers like Lando Norris and Max Verstappen on high alert regarding potential calendar shifts.
Earlier regional conflicts had impacted other motorsport events in the area, leading to speculation that F1 might need to activate contingency plans—such as moving the season finale to Imola—if security risks escalated further. However, discussions surrounding potential cancellations have significantly dwindled in recent weeks, with championship organizers maintaining their primary objective to race in the Middle East.
Speaking to selected media outlets including Autosport, Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasized that he feels secure about the current climate, noting that he would never keep his own family in the region if it were genuinely unsafe. "They're fine. One thing I would say, I have my children there - you think I would leave them there, and I'm here now with you?" Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated when addressing local security perceptions.

He further pointed out that media portrayals often contrast sharply with the reality experienced on the ground. While absolute prediction is impossible, the current assessment supports the continuation of both events. MotoGP teams have similarly been informed that their rescheduled Qatari round will push through in November without disruption.
This definitive stance brings much-needed stability to outfits like Red Bull Racing and McLaren as they finalize their logistics for the closing stages of the grueling world championship campaign. The FIA maintains that personnel safety remains paramount, using leadership's presence in the region as a primary barometer for operational confidence.
