FIA Confident Horner Will Return to F1 Soon

Formula 1, Sportrik Media - FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has expressed confidence that Christian Horner will return to Formula 1 in the near future after nearly a year away from the paddock.

Horner left his role at Red Bull Racing around 10 months ago, ending a 20-year tenure that delivered eight drivers’ championships with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, along with six constructors’ titles.

Since then, Horner has been linked with a return to Formula 1, including speculation over a move to Alpine, although no official agreement has been confirmed.

Ben Sulayem, who met Horner in Paris earlier this year, believes that a figure with such experience remains highly valuable within Formula 1, particularly in team leadership and competitive dynamics.

“You cannot remove Christian Horner’s name from motorsport and Formula 1. We miss him in this sport, and I do personally,” Ben Sulayem said.

“We would welcome him back. Someone with that kind of record will always find his way. When he returns, it will feel like he just went on vacation.”

Despite the controversies surrounding the final phase of his tenure at Red Bull, including investigations in 2024, Ben Sulayem emphasised that Horner’s track record remains the defining factor in assessing his return prospects.

“When someone has that history, you don’t question their credibility. But it has to be mutual—you need to show interest as well,” he added.

Given his experience and influence, Horner’s potential return could significantly impact the competitive structure of Formula 1. His next career move remains a key storyline as the season progresses.
