A dramatic crash has hit Charles Leclerc at the Italian Grand Prix, triggering a red flag during the race at Monza. The Monegasque driver lost control while battling Oscar Piastri for fourth place, clipping the kerb at Parabolica and slamming hard into the barriers.
Leclerc emerged from his car unscathed but looked dejected at the trackside as the red flag was shown, with several Tifosi visibly crying after their star driver retired from the home race.
Key Moment on Lap Two
Prior to the crash, Leclerc had an eventful second lap, attempting to pass Pierre Gasly for second after the Frenchman lost the lead to George Russell at the start of the lap.
Leclerc failed to make the move stick and soon came under pressure from Max Verstappen, who overtook at Ascari. Piastri then set his sights on the Ferrari, had a look on the inside at Parabolica, but backed out and was not involved in the incident that ended Leclerc's race.

Just before the red flag, Franco Colapinto managed to get ahead of Piastri after a great start by the Argentine. As the race remained under red flags, Russell led from Gasly and Verstappen. This incident is a severe blow for Ferrari on home soil, given the high expectations from fans for Leclerc's performance.
With the red flag still out, race control has yet to decide when the race will resume. The situation is now under the spotlight, both regarding the technical aspects of the Ferrari car and the psychological pressure on Leclerc in front of his home crowd.
