Fermin Aldeguer has been officially forced to miss this weekend's race at Phillip Island after sustaining a fracture to his first metacarpal in his left hand. The injury stemmed from a high-speed crash in the run-off area at turn 16 during the Indonesian MotoGP, which left him spotted walking through the WorldSBK paddock in Jerez wearing a cast on his left arm.
The confirmation regarding his absence was announced by Gresini Racing on the morning of October 19. In their official statement, the Italian outfit noted that the 2025 Indonesia winner is currently working intensively to recover his physical condition in time for the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix in less than two weeks.
Stepping in to fill the void is Iker Lecuona, who will once again take control of the #54 Ducati machine. This upcoming appearance marks Lecuona's third substitute outing for the squad this season, following previous replacement duties in Hungary and Silverstone earlier in the calendar.

Lecuona heads to the Australian venue fresh off an impressive conclusion to the WorldSBK campaign, where he secured second place in the championship standings alongside four race victories. His final weekend in Jerez yielded a trio of podium finishes, taking third place in Race 1 followed by a pair of runner-up finishes across both races on Sunday.
Throughout his limited premier-class appearances this year, Lecuona has collected a seventh-place finish at Balaton Park alongside a DNF result during his outing at Silverstone. His immediate task at Phillip Island will be maximizing his adaptation to the Ducati machinery across the practice sessions.
