Fermin Aldeguer is finally back on track after two months on the sidelines. The Ducati rider approaches his comeback with caution, admitting his physical condition is not fully recovered. Still, he says the feeling on the bike is already positive, and he has one clear goal: managing his rhythm to arrive at race day in the best possible shape.
“I feel good, but clearly not 100 percent. I was out for two months, and in the last three weeks I started going to the gym and cycling. This week I got to try the bike, and it wasn't that bad. I'm happy with that. Now let's see how it goes with a MotoGP,” Aldeguer told Motosan.es's Alba Casares.
Pain is not the main issue; rather, it's the loss of strength and racing fitness. “It's more about lacking power and lacking laps on the bike than pain. I feel very good, nothing hurts. But the physical demands of MotoGP are not the same as a 600. We have to start calmly, make a good plan, and not do too many laps to be in the best shape for Sunday,” he explained.
One topic that surfaced was the gravel, which Marc Marquez had criticized. Aldeguer himself crashed there and finds it hard to blame the track conditions entirely. “It's difficult to analyze the gravel condition. If you watch the videos and photos, it's probably not as good as the other part. But if you talk to Race Direction or safety officers, they'll say it's safe. I think I was just unlucky. The important thing is we're back now,” he said.
Another big news: Aldeguer is confirmed to step up to a factory Ducati next season. He sees this as a major career move. “I'm happy, super happy. It's a great opportunity. Since the start of the season, my goal was a factory bike, and Ducati is giving me that chance. But now we have to focus on this season, and then we'll see,” he stated.
He also stressed that a factory bike will open many doors. “I think stepping up to a factory bike will open more doors and opportunities at many tracks where we struggled with the satellite bike. I won't say whether the team is better or worse; I just look at the performance and the big step Ducati has given me the chance to take,” Aldeguer concluded.
