A multi-year deal is finally confirmed: Fermin Aldeguer will race for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team from the 2027 season. The Italian squad made the announcement official, marking a new chapter for the Spanish rider who took an unconventional path to MotoGP.
Aldeguer rose through the ranks via the European Moto2 and MotoE championships before a full-time switch to the intermediate class in 2022. His three seasons in Moto2 were impressive, culminating in a third-place finish in 2023, which earned him a Ducati contract and a promotion to Gresini Racing for 2025.
His rookie MotoGP campaign was outstanding, securing the Rookie of the Year title with two podiums and a victory in Indonesia. However, 2026 has been tougher, as a fractured femur before the Buriram pre-season test hampered his progress, though he still managed a podium at Catalunya.
Moving to VR46 means Aldeguer will ride a factory-spec Desmosedici GP, a significant boost especially with new technical regulations arriving in 2027, including changes to tyres and aerodynamics. Full support from Ducati Corse is expected to accelerate his adaptation.
“I’m very happy to be taking this step in my MotoGP career with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Signing with Valentino’s team is incredible,” Aldeguer said in a press release. “He has always been one of my idols and a role model for me. I think having him within the team will help me improve as a rider thanks to his valuable advice.”
He also outlined his goals for 2027: adapting to the new tyres and bike, and aiming for consistent top-five finishes. “I can’t finish without thanking the entire Gresini Racing team and Nadia, who have helped me grow and brought me to where I am today,” he added.
Alessio 'Uccio' Salucci, VR46 Team Director, welcomed Aldeguer warmly. “We are happy to confirm that Fermin will ride with us in 2027. He is a young rider who showed huge talent right from his MotoGP debut. He will ride a Factory Desmosedici GP as an official Ducati Corse rider,” he said. “We will give him our maximum support to reach our goals.”
