Fabian Turnes Says Buenos Aires MotoGP 2027 Project Is Ahead of Schedule

Fabian Turnes has provided an encouraging update on preparations for the 2027 Buenos Aires MotoGP, saying work at the Autodromo Oscar y Juan Galvez is progressing well and is even running ahead of schedule.

Argentina is due to return to the MotoGP calendar in 2027 after previously hosting its Grand Prix at Termas de Rio Hondo until 2025. The next edition will move to Buenos Aires, although significant work is required to bring the circuit up to modern MotoGP standards.

Turnes, Buenos Aires’ sports secretary, said the construction programme is showing positive progress. “The work is going well, I think you can see it here,” he told the media during a recent visit to the circuit.

“Especially with regard to the times, I dare to say that we are ahead of schedule,” Turnes added. The project is expected to be completed in January or February 2027, providing preparation time before Argentina returns to the MotoGP calendar.

An alternative configuration featuring a hairpin is also being constructed alongside the MotoGP layout. That version is intended for Formula 1 use, while interest has also been mentioned in potentially bringing the FIA World Endurance Championship to the circuit.

The exact position of the Argentine Grand Prix on the 2027 MotoGP calendar has not yet been confirmed. The available material points towards early April as the expected window, while Thailand has already been confirmed as the season opener without an official date being announced.

With construction reported to be ahead of schedule, attention now turns to completing the Autodromo Oscar y Juan Galvez upgrades in early 2027 before Buenos Aires returns as a MotoGP host.
