Lando Norris will start the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix from pole position after a stunning lap in the dying moments of Q3. The McLaren driver mastered the Madring circuit in Madrid, leaving Andrea Kimi Antonelli just 11 milliseconds behind. Max Verstappen completed the top three and is ready to pounce if Norris falters.
Fierce Fight at the Front
The qualifying session was dramatic. Norris was pushed hard by Antonelli, who impressed with Mercedes. Verstappen, driving for Red Bull, qualified third and cannot be ignored. The three will be the main attraction at the first corner.
Ferrari showed promising pace but failed to convert it into a top result. Lewis Hamilton briefly led Q3 after the first run but couldn't perfect his second lap. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, had to settle for fifth. Both will start from the second row, not an ideal position on a new track with limited data.

Challenge of a New Circuit
Madring, hosting its first F1 race, offers a unique challenge. The track's characteristics have never been tested in a real race, making strategy and adaptation key. Drivers must be wary of blind spots and unproven braking zones.
The race starts at 15:00 local time and runs for 57 laps. With such a tight front pack, tire management and pit stop timing will decide the outcome. Don't miss the action from Madrid, only on Sportrik.
