Enea Bastianini emerged as the surprising pacesetter by topping the timesheets in the final MotoGP practice session before qualifying at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The Italian rider laid down a blistering lap time of 1:58.516 to command the second free practice in style.
Bastianini, carrying strong historical form around the Sepang layout including his memorable victory back in 2023, showcased brilliant pace to secure the benchmark time as the chequered flag waved over the Malaysian asphalt. His exceptional rhythm through the sweeping corners left little room for error among his competitors.
Slotting in right behind the pacesetter, Alex Marquez claimed the second-fastest spot, finishing 0.288 seconds adrift, while Marco Bezzecchi rounded out the top three positions in a tightly contested session that highlighted critical tire management and aerodynamic adjustments.

Further down the order, several riders managed dramatic late improvements to salvage their grid preparations. Ai Ogura climbed from the lower end of the timing screens into fourth with a flurry of late flying laps, closely followed by Pedro Acosta who wrapped up a promising top-five result.
The action-packed session also witnessed minor drama toward its conclusion, including a late crash for Iker Lecuona at the final corner. With the grid now fully focused on the upcoming qualifying battles, the paddock gears up for an intensely competitive showdown under the scorching Malaysian sun.
