Uncertainty continues to surround the career path of French rally driver Adrien Fourmaux in the World Rally Championship. Having spent the past two seasons competing for Hyundai, the Frenchman still does not know where he will be racing next season as silly season discussions heat up.

The championship landscape is bracing for a massive regulatory overhaul ahead of the 2027 season, which will also open up the premier top class to independent private teams operating without direct manufacturer backing.

Amid persistent links connecting him to Ford—which prepares to return to the WRC as a factory outfit in 2028—the driver remains entirely pragmatic about his career options. As reported by RallyJournal, he is carefully evaluating every available opportunity on the market.

"When you don’t have any drive for next year, you are looking into every project," Adrien Fourmaux told DirtFish. "So, I’m just very open. I will take my time to take the decision."

Technical strategies among current manufacturers vary wildly ahead of the new rulebook. Toyota stands out as the only current team bringing a dedicated Rally1 car built specifically to the upcoming regulations, whereas M-Sport is taking a different route by developing a performance kit package for its Rally2 machinery.

Adding to the intrigue, new outfits such as Project Rally One and RMC Motorsport are actively targeting entries into the premier top class for 2027. Despite the complex transitional phase, the French driver's ultimate career objective remains crystal clear.

"My target is really going back as soon as possible with a Rally1 car," Adrien Fourmaux stated. "I can accept one year with a slower car, but I really want to go back."
