The WorldSBK 2026 season has officially come to a premature end for MGM Ducati rider Tarran Mackenzie. The German-based squad has confirmed his permanent replacement for the remainder of the current World Superbike championship calendar.

This outcome follows the severe injuries sustained by Tarran Mackenzie when he crashed during FP2 at the UK Round held at Donington Park back in July. The heavy spill left the British rider with multiple fractures, including a broken left leg that required an extensive and delicate rehabilitation process.

An attempted comeback at the following round in France—scheduled two months after the UK Round and the summer break—offered a glimmer of hope. However, those hopes were dashed on the Thursday ahead of the event when he was officially declared unfit to ride by the medical officials.

Having sat out the subsequent Italian round where he was temporarily substituted by race winner Loris Baz, MGM Ducati has now locked in their rider lineup. According to Crash.net, Loris Baz—who boasts previous ties with the outfit from their BMW days—will retain the Ducati Panigale V4 R seat for the final two double-header rounds of the year at Estoril and Jerez.

In an official team statement released regarding the rider status, the management explained: "Following further checks that revealed Tarran Mackenzie is not primed for a return to action this weekend, he’ll have to sit out the season finale double header. Loris Baz will take over his Ducati Panigale V4 R in Estoril and Jerez. We keep wishing Tarran a speedy and full recovery!"
