WorldSBK, Sportrik Media - The 2026 World Superbike Championship standings have taken early shape following Race 2 of the season-opening Australian round at Phillip Island, with Nicolo Bulega emerging as the clear leader.
The Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider enjoyed a perfect weekend, securing victory in all three races and collecting the maximum 62 points available. That haul gives Bulega a 20-point advantage at the top of the standings after Round 1.
Second place in the championship is held by Axel Bassani of Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team, whose two podium finishes at Phillip Island ensured a strong start to his 2026 campaign. Bassani sits 16 points clear of third-placed Yari Montella, who also capitalised on consistent results across the weekend.

Completing the top five after the Australian round are Lorenzo Baldassarri and Alvaro Bautista, both of whom secured podium finishes at Phillip Island to remain within early striking distance in the title race. Ducati machinery features prominently at the front of the standings, underlining its competitive baseline at the start of the new season.
Further down the order, riders including Sam Lowes, Danilo Petrucci, and Alex Lowes remain tightly grouped in the midfield, setting the stage for potential shifts as the championship moves to its next European round.
With Phillip Island delivering a decisive opening statement, the 2026 WorldSBK standings now provide the first meaningful indicator of the emerging title battle.
