Moto3, Sportrik Media - Veda Ega Pratama has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in Indonesian motorsport following his impressive rookie Moto3 campaign in 2026 with Honda Team Asia.
The rider from Wonosari, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, born on 23 November 2008, made history as the first Indonesian rider to score a Moto3 podium after finishing inside the top three at the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix.
Veda is the son of former Indonesian national racer Sudarmono. Growing up in a motorsport-oriented family allowed him to develop racing instincts at an early age before initially starting his career in motocross.
His international breakthrough began in the 2022 Asia Talent Cup before he emerged as one of the category’s dominant riders and secured the 2023 Asia Talent Cup title.
That success opened the door to the Red Bull Rookies Cup, where Veda further developed his race craft, slipstream management, and overtaking aggression. One of his standout moments came during the 2025 Italian round, where he secured a double victory.

Technically, Veda is known for his aggressive corner-entry style and strong one-on-one race battles. Those characteristics have already led to comparisons with the early riding style of Marc Marquez, particularly regarding late braking and bike control at low-grip limits.
Inside the paddock, Veda is also known by the nickname “Ovedinha” or “The Young Lion” due to his aggressive but composed racing mentality under pressure.
At just 17 years old, Veda is now regarded as one of Southeast Asia’s biggest prospects on the pathway toward MotoGP. His consistency throughout the 2026 European season is expected to become a key factor in determining how quickly he can progress toward Moto2 in the coming years.
