Formula 1 made a triumphant return to the Sepang International Circuit for a unique Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, delivering plenty of early drama. Max Verstappen shook off his winless slump of 2026 by converting pole position into a masterclass victory under the tropical heat.
Things did not look smooth initially as the Red Bull star slipped to third on the opening lap after being caught off-guard by the Silver Arrows. Yet, his composure prevailed; he quickly carved his way back to the front and dictated the pace with authority, brushing off the threat of a late safety car.
Further down the field, Lewis Hamilton orchestrated a brilliant recovery drive. Gambling on soft tyres at the start, the British veteran fought through adversity to snatch an unexpected and hard-fought third-place finish.

While Andrea Kimi Antonelli extended his championship lead with a solid second place for Mercedes, teammate George Russell suffered a heartbreaking technical failure on Lap 50 while cruising comfortably in a podium position.
