Max Verstappen claimed pole position for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix sprint race following a stellar final lap around the Marina Bay Street Circuit, outpacing his rivals in a dramatic qualifying session. The Dutchman topped a qualifying session at Singapore for the very first time, though he faces a post-session investigation for an alleged yellow flag infringement.
This impressive performance puts the Red Bull racer on the front row alongside George Russell, who secured second place for Mercedes. Meanwhile, championship leader Kimi Antonelli will face an uphill battle starting the sprint race from only seventh position after being outpaced by the competitive Ferrari and McLaren entries.

The opening SQ1 segment was instantly interrupted when Sergio Perez crashed into the barriers at Turn 5, causing a red flag and leaving a frantic rush in the pitlane once the session resumed. Verstappen ultimately set a benchmark of 1m33.477s ahead of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, while drivers such as Carlos Sainz and Arvid Lindblad suffered early eliminations.

As the action progressed into SQ2, tension escalated when Leclerc briefly went fastest with a 1m32.457s lap, while Russell narrowly survived elimination after suffering a major lock-up into the corner. However, the final SQ3 segment belonged to Verstappen, who maximized his machinery to seal the coveted top spot on the grid.

This qualifying outcome significantly shakes up the competitive order for the weekend ahead at Marina Bay, particularly given Antonelli's challenging grid slot. Teams will now need to carefully evaluate their tire strategy and aerodynamic setups ahead of a highly unpredictable sprint race.
