Frederic Vasseur has finally broken his silence. Amid swirling rumors linking his position to Christian Horner, Vasseur insists he remains fully focused on steering Ferrari through the remainder of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
The speculation intensified after Horner, who left Red Bull in July 2025, described Ferrari as the one team that could tempt him back without an ownership stake. Those comments added another layer of pressure on Vasseur, especially after Ferrari finished fourth and sixth in Baku with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
“We are not working in perfect serenity,” Vasseur admitted. “For me, for everyone in the team, and for the media, it’s a frustrating situation. We are fighting for P2 in the championship, yet questions about these rumors keep coming.”
Vasseur also pointed out that Horner’s availability inevitably fuels discussion. “Mr Horner is looking for a job—everybody knows that. But what can I do? Just try to do my best to push the team, ask them to stay motivated, and not spend time on gossip,” he said.
Since taking over Ferrari at the start of 2023, Vasseur has shown glimpses of progress. His multi-year contract, understood to run until at least the end of 2027, should provide stability. However, Ferrari’s inconsistent form—despite Hamilton and Leclerc each scoring one win in 2026—has once again made the Maranello hot seat a talking point.
Interestingly, Vasseur was also asked whether he could envisage working alongside Horner at Ferrari rather than being replaced by him. His response? He reiterated his commitment. “Sure, this sport is my life. I’m here to do my job, and I have the best job in the world. We still have seven races to go,” he concluded.
With Mercedes still leading the constructors’ championship, Ferrari must quickly shift focus from rumors to on-track performance. The remaining seven races will be the true test for Vasseur and his team—whether they can finish the season strongly or sink further into the shadow of speculation.
