Tension gripped the Formula 1 paddock at the Marina Bay street circuit as Fred Vasseur launched a scathing critique against the race stewards' controversial decision. The Ferrari team principal openly expressed his frustration after Max Verstappen escaped a strict sanction despite an alleged yellow flag infringement during the weekend's sprint qualifying session.

Before the controversy erupted, the Prancing Horse camp had ignited massive hope among their loyal supporters within the garage. During the second part of the sprint qualifying under the dazzling Southeast Asian night lights, Charles Leclerc performed brilliantly by securing the top spot on the timesheets. Meanwhile, British superstar Lewis Hamilton followed closely behind in second place using Pirelli's medium compound tires.

However, the competitive landscape shifted dramatically when all contenders bolted on soft compound rubber for the final qualifying segment. Their closest rivals managed to significantly improve their lap times, forcing Leclerc to settle for third place. A tougher fate befell Hamilton, who slipped down to sixth on the starting grid for Saturday's short race.

Reviewing his drivers' fluctuating performance throughout the grid-deciding session, Fred Vasseur provided a candid evaluation of their car's technical limitations.

The boss from Maranello also added that the competitive gaps at the sharp end of the field were razor-thin, meaning every minor mistake carried a heavy price on the asphalt. Vasseur asserted, «Es ist alles in allem nicht schlecht gelaufen. Charles war bis zum Schluss bei der Musik, Lewis hat am Ende keine optimale Runde geschafft». Nevertheless, the primary focus of the red garage suddenly shifted to the stewards' room regarding a controversial incident.

The pinnacle of Vasseur's dissatisfaction stemmed from Verstappen overtaking while yellow flags were waving, an offense that normally warrants severe punishment from the race officials. Instead of receiving a grid drop, the Red Bull star driver was let off the hook without a penalty, while Leclerc inherited second place following the grid's dynamic shake-up.

Witnessing the controversial ruling that favored their primary rival, Vasseur made no attempt to hide his annoyance in front of the press. Demanding consistent rule enforcement for track safety, the team boss boldly stated his verdict, «Aus unserer Sicht hat er unter gelber Flagge uberholt, fur mich musste er funf Range zuruck».
