FIM Europe has confirmed that two riders died following an incident during the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship round at Automotodrom Brno on Saturday.
Austrian rider Philipp Steinmayr, aged 32, died from injuries sustained in the incident. Romanian rider Adrian Rus, aged 43, was transported to hospital in critical condition before later passing away.

Medical services responded immediately at the circuit. However, organisers said no further details about the incident would be released out of respect for the riders’ families.

The remainder of the weekend programme was cancelled. The Supersport 300 European Cup, Supersport 600 European Cup, Superstock 1000 European Cup and Women’s European Championship races will not take place.
FIM Europe, the Alpe Adria Motorcycle Union, promoter AAcademy and Automotodrom Brno expressed their condolences to the families, friends, teams and loved ones of Steinmayr and Rus.
