Toprak Razgatlioglu Faces Critical Shoulder Scan Following Mandalika Crash

What promised to be a highly competitive weekend turned into a disaster for Toprak Razgatlioglu at the Indonesian Grand Prix. The Pramac Racing rider was forced into an early retirement on Sunday after a severe shoulder injury severely drained his physical strength.

The dramatic incident occurred during the final practice session at Mandalika on Saturday, when Razgatlioglu was violently thrown from his machine. The heavy impact against the asphalt resulted in a dislocated right shoulder. Remarkably, he managed to pop the joint back into place and soldiered through the rest of the day, qualifying and finishing the sprint race in 19th position.

However, the physical toll caught up with him during Sunday's grand prix, forcing him to park his motorcycle after completing just eight laps. The former Superbike star revealed that he chose to race despite his team offering him the option to sit out before the lights went out.

“Today, my biggest problem was the shoulder, not the bike,” Razgatlioglu told Motorsport.com. “On Sunday morning, I felt very bad on my shoulder. Saturday was not so bad; it was a short race. But when I woke up this Sunday morning, I felt really painful and the movement was less.”

“I got the painkiller, but the pain is not a big problem. But the biggest problem is no power after the shoulder’s ‘outing’. I don't feel the power, especially on the brake. Every lap, I'm just going more down, because in the main right corner, the shoulder does not have enough power,” he elaborated on his physical limitations.

Upon returning to Turkey on Monday, the 29-year-old will undergo a complete MRI examination on his right shoulder to determine the extent of the damage and whether a surgical procedure is ultimately required to fix the joint.
