The return of the world championship to Indonesia brings an emotional storyline for Toprak Razgatlioglu ahead of the race weekend at the Mandalika circuit. The Turkish star arrives with high motivation and fond memories of clinching his maiden World Superbike crown back in the 2021 season. The challenge ahead is vastly different this time as he tackles the Indonesian layout aboard a premier-class prototype machine with the Pramac Yamaha squad.

Toprak's rookie campaign in the premier class has proven to be a tough learning curve following a massive transition from superbike specifications. Nonetheless, his historical track record in Lombok features a clean sweep of three race victories the following season, complemented by another win and two runner-up finishes in 2023. The rider acknowledges that he holds very special memories at this venue while recognizing that riding a MotoGP machine requires a distinct riding style.

Toprak Razgatlioglu shared his excitement about returning to the venue, stating that he holds very nice memories from Mandalika, especially from 2021 when he won his first World Superbike title with Yamaha. He noted that coming back this time with a MotoGP bike provides a different experience requiring a unique approach, but he remains fully committed to giving his best and is genuinely happy to return.

Meanwhile, his teammate Jack Miller also views this weekend as a crucial opportunity to reverse their fortunes following a difficult run of races. The Australian rider, who has participated in all four Mandalika MotoGP events including his fourth-place wet weather finish in 2022, expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Indonesia and racing in front of the passionate local fans.

The challenging situation facing the Pramac Yamaha outfit requires an immediate response after failing to score points in either of the past two rounds. Team director Gino Borsoi emphasized that everyone has put in tremendous effort and the recent results do not reflect the true potential of the project. The team hopes Indonesia will serve as a turning point to fight back into competitive positions.
