The Bend is set to host the Australian Formula Series (AFS) across three consecutive weekends in December utilizing three distinct circuit layouts to fill a major gap in the motorsport calendar.

Promoted by AGI Sport and operating under current FIA Formula 4 technical regulations, the championship features a condensed program packing ten days of on-track action across 18 calendar days.

Open to both domestic and international outfits, the series was swiftly established to bridge the void left by the postponed 2027 UAE4 series which traditionally runs through January and February.

The strategic December slot additionally offers competing teams a prime opportunity to utilize the championship as a crucial warm-up ahead of New Zealand’s Formula Regional Oceania Trophy in January.

With ongoing complexities surrounding the Middle East, AGI Sport managing director Adam Gotch admitted he immediately recognized a commercial and competitive opening to launch the new venture.

We feel there is a hole in the F4 market to establish an annual end of year F4 competition in our Summer, Gotch stated regarding the strategic timing of the new series.

To streamline participation for overseas competitors, AGI Sport will facilitate straightforward entries by offering car rentals, container logistics, and comprehensive technical support as a complete turnkey package.

Action for Round 1 kicks off with a Thursday test day before official proceedings begin on Friday, December 4, utilizing the 3.41km 'West' circuit layout.

Round 2 transitions to the 4.95km 'International' layout via a distinctive Monday-to-Wednesday schedule on December 14-16, immediately preceding Round 3 on the 7.77km 'GT' circuit from December 18-20.

Race weekends will rigorously test drivers through two 60-minute practice sessions on Friday, Saturday morning qualifying, and four high-intensity 25-minute races headlining each event.

Global and local fans can follow all the racing action through live streams broadcast on YouTube as well as subscription platform Kayo Sports.

This brand-new summer initiative follows an immensely successful AU4 Championship season capped off by a thrilling finale at Queensland Raceway where Aussie teenager Jensen Marold claimed the Gen2 crown and Jackson Culver triumphed in the Gen1 class.
