Ahead of the Supercars Enduro Cup, parity concerns have resurfaced. The surprising results from the Ipswich Super440 have sparked speculation that Supercars will conduct a parity review for the Chevrolet Camaro and Toyota Supra, though nothing has been officially confirmed by the series.
At Ipswich, the Ford Mustang was dominant, sweeping all three race podiums and locking out nine of ten spots in Sunday's Shootout. This dominance was one of the most lopsided of the season, prompting fresh concerns from the Camaro camp over understeer in high-speed corners and continued instability under braking.
Supercars' new-for-2026 parity review system uses in-race lap times and results from each manufacturer, based on a six-race rolling average. The category is required to launch a review if the calculated disparity falls outside the 0.1-second threshold when equated to a 60-second lap. However, the premise remains technical parity—not sporting-based Balance of Performance—and changes are only made if Supercars is convinced there is sound reason.
The Camaro has already undergone two parity changes earlier this year at Ruapuna and Symmons Plains, aimed at correcting an aerodynamic balance set during off-season wind tunnel testing. The heavy defeat at Ipswich has now triggered renewed calls for an aero parity review from the Camaro side.
Supercars is at a crossroads because parity adjustments can only be implemented if identified before the Enduro Cup. Last year, Supercars introduced an aerodynamic change in Ford's favor ahead of the Enduro Cup opener, which coincided with a dramatic swing in results. Despite dominating 2026 so far, Ford and most of its teams fear being outperformed by the Camaros on the straights at the crucial Bathurst 1000.
Additionally, Supercars has yet to confirm whether its long-promised barometric pressure testing will be completed and implemented before the Great Race. The barometric pressure saga dominated Bathurst week last year, with preliminary testing that couldn't be finalized in time. Interestingly, Ford homologation team Triple Eight doesn't consider the testing critical and is confident for Mount Panorama.
All three cars have already run at the circuit this year, with Supercars conducting parity evaluations at the Bathurst 12 Hour in February. Any performance discrepancy due to barometric pressure would also impact the double-overhead camshaft Toyota. Throughout the season, Toyota's parity triggers have been dismissed largely because its engine is still under development. However, reliability remains a big question mark following the rollout of B-spec Toyota engines at Ipswich, where Chaz Mostert suffered a bottom-end bearing failure. The Ford camp is also focusing on reliability after failures at Queensland Raceway involving Grove Racing, Dick Johnson Racing, and Triple Eight Mustangs.
