Dramatic scenes unfolded as crews worked through the night to repair heavily damaged machinery following major incidents during practice at Mount Panorama. Ryan Wood became the first Supercars star to fall victim to the unforgiving circuit when he misjudged Forrest’s Elbow and clipped the inside wall.
The impact spat the car directly into the outside barrier, causing significant structural damage to the front right corner of the machine. Confronted with an immense task, the crew executed a complete engine change, fitted a fresh transaxle, and installed a new front clip in the comprehensive rebuild of the #2 Toyota Supra.
The garage finally completed the heavy build at midnight, boosted by unexpected support from rival squad Tickford Racing, who stepped in to supply essential steering parts to help get the car back on its wheels.

Drama struck the Ford camp as well when Tony D’Alberto lost control of his machine at the Dipper and slid into the outside barrier. Displaying true paddock solidarity, a fabricator from Triple Eight named Jason Briggs lent a crucial hand with the intricate chassis repairs.
Both teams ultimately elected not to rush their repairs ahead of the qualifying session, meaning their absence forces them to start from the rear of the grid. However, both damaged entries will be fully operational and ready to hit the track for the upcoming practice session.
