The Australian motorsport journalism landscape proudly welcomed one of its most influential figures to its highest echelon. Stuart Murray, the visionary behind a premier news portal, has been officially inducted into the Hall of Fame.
This prestigious honor took place during a special presentation hosted at the Bathurst media centre. The recognition arrives in the same year he received a Medal of the Order of Australia, following on from the Lifetime Media Service Award presented by Motorsport Australia back in 2018.
Murray's journey in motorsport media started out as a journalist before establishing the BAM Media PR empire. That venture notably included representing Stone Brothers Racing during their absolute heyday and anchoring the prominent Gold Coast Indy event.

Back in 2009, he founded Speedcafe, a move that fundamentally revolutionized the motorsport news media industry across the nation and continues to set the benchmark for specialist coverage to this day.
“It is an honour to receive these types of awards when they are decided by your peers,” said Murray during his acceptance speech in front of fellow media members.
Reflecting on his years in the paddock with his trademark humor, he added: “I have met some great people in this sport and many of them are in this room today. I have also met plenty of arseholes, some who are also in this room. The funny thing is you are all now trying to workout who is who.”
Beyond media and business, Murray emphasized that his truest legacy lies in the doors opened for ambitious youth. Many of those individuals have gone on to achieve remarkable milestones in sports and business, both domestically and internationally.
Sharing the induction spotlight alongside Murray was veteran journalist Garry O'Brien. Affectionately known as GOB, his decades-long career includes serving as a national editor for Speedcafe and remaining a vital voice for grassroots racing.
