The upcoming World Rally Championship season is set to look drastically different as a living legend prepares to step back from the spotlight. Sebastien Ogier has confirmed that he will miss the iconic Monte Carlo Rally opener next year, marking the first time he has skipped the season-opening event since 2011.
The French star driving for Toyota has competed on a partial schedule since his last full championship campaign in 2021. Despite regularly missing multiple rounds each year, the nine-time world champion has continued to perform at an elite level, famously clinching another world title despite sitting out three rounds during the season.
Speaking exclusively to DirtFish, the Toyota Gazoo Racing stalwart shed light on his evolving career path. Ogier admitted that even he does not yet know the exact number of events he will contest in the future, but firmly established that his presence will be far more limited compared to recent years.

"I still don’t know it myself, that’s why I will not be able to share more to you today," Ogier told DirtFish. He emphasized that skipping the legendary Monte Carlo event is a finalized decision driven by a desire to give back to his family after a decade of unwavering support.
"I’ve been repeating it the whole weekend that the clear thing is that I will not start Monte, that’s for sure. I have some job to do – the backing of my wife for once after receiving her support for the last 10 years, basically since our son is born. So yeah, I need tog I owe her more than that. After that we will see. I need to assess a little bit the whole situation. Probably you won’t see me often but it’s not impossible that I’m back sometimes," he concluded.
