Formula E, Sportrik Media - Sebastien Buemi has drawn renewed confidence from his podium finish in Jeddah, believing Envision Racing now has the package to be “consistently fast” in the 2026 Formula E season.

The Gen3 era had never fully aligned with Buemi’s strengths. Aside from a wet-weather victory in Monaco last season and occasional podium appearances, regularly fighting at the front had become rare for the Season 2 champion. However, the current campaign has marked a significant turnaround, with Buemi displaying his strongest form since the early Gen2 years.

In Mexico City, Buemi started from pole position and had a prime opportunity to secure a podium, but a first-corner mistake — followed by a mid-race puncture — ended his challenge. In Miami, competitive dry pace was offset by difficulties in wet conditions and a team miscommunication regarding attack mode deployment. It was only in Jeddah, during the second race of the double-header, that everything came together.

“Yeah, it does,” Buemi said when asked if it felt good to finally secure a strong result.

“Really, I did my fair share of mistakes in Mexico when we had a great car and could have fought for the podium.”

“I guess Miami was more the team — a miscommunication, not using the attack mode — and in the first Jeddah race it was just the tyres, out of our control.”

“For the second race, there were no mistakes, a good set of tyres, and a good result. So hopefully we can iron out those mistakes and make sure we continue like that.”

Envision’s Jaguar-powered package has shown competitive pace at every venue so far, underlining tangible progress in both efficiency and energy management. The podium in Jeddah represented a breakthrough result after several near-misses, reinforcing confidence within the team.

Nevertheless, Buemi stressed that a single podium does not define a title campaign, particularly in a tightly contested Gen3 field.

“I think we have some good leads on trying to improve the car a little bit more. We now have good momentum and more confidence. I just hope we can continue in that trend.”

“It doesn't mean anything to just get one good result, but hopefully we were fast in Mexico, we were fast in Miami, and we were fast in Jeddah. It looks like we can consistently be fast.”

With consistent pace now translating into tangible results, Envision Racing appears better positioned to sustain front-running performances. The coming rounds will determine whether Buemi’s renewed momentum can evolve into a sustained championship challenge in 2026.
