Drama unfolded during the qualifying session of the Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia at Mount Panorama as reigning Michelin Sprint Challenge champion Santalucia successfully secured pole position for the opening two races. As the clock ticked down towards the end of the session, the young charger was already sitting atop the order, yet he opted to push for another fast lap to further solidify his dominance.
That relentless pursuit of speed ultimately led to a dramatic moment when Santalucia posted another personal best first sector before coming unstuck on the treacherous run down the hill towards The Dipper. The car stepped sideways over the kerb through The Esses, clipping the tyre wall on the right before colliding heavily with the outside wall, driver’s side first.
Despite emerging from the heavily battered Porsche unscathed, Santalucia was visibly devastated with the unfortunate outcome that left Wall Racing with a massive repair job ahead of the upcoming races. Fortunately, the blistering lap time he set prior to the red-flag-inducing incident proved more than enough to withstand the late charge from his championship rivals.

According to Speedcafe reports, Santalucia beat championship leader Harri Jones to pole position by a razor-thin margin of just 0.092 seconds. Meanwhile, David Russell, Marcos Flack, and Max Geoghegan rounded out a highly competitive top five overall.
Further down the timesheets, reigning champion Dylan O’Keeffe slotted into sixth fastest ahead of Glen Wood, Lachlan Bloxsom, Aaron Love, and Tom Bewley inside the top ten. Meanwhile, Clay Osborne faces an uphill battle to protect his second place in the standings after struggling to a 13th-place qualifying result.
