Rafael Camara has officially been confirmed to make his Formula 1 debut with Haas ahead of the 2027 season. The young Brazilian talent is set to step into the seat vacated by Esteban Ocon, following the expiration of the French driver's contract at the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.
Ocon's departure from the American outfit had already been determined after a difficult 2026 season where the performance gap to his rookie team-mate noticeably widened. With speculation finally put to rest, the team has chosen a fresh face to lead their sporting ambitions moving forward into the upcoming regulatory era.
Camara arrives in the pinnacle of motorsport on the back of a stellar junior career progression. The 21-year-old currently leads the Formula 2 standings during his rookie campaign, having previously claimed the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship before storming to the Formula 3 title at his very first attempt back in 2025.

With three feature race victories under his belt this year, Camara holds a crucial seven-point advantage over Red Bull-backed contender Nikola Tsolov with only two rounds remaining. Securing this year's F2 crown would place him in an elite club of drivers who have achieved back-to-back triumphs in the feeder categories.
As a core member of the Ferrari young driver academy, Camara benefited heavily from the close technical alliance shared between Maranello and the American squad. His standout performance during a private Portimao test in late August ultimately sealed the deal, cementing his well-earned graduation to the Formula 1 grid.
