Racing Bulls is currently enjoying a highly competitive season as the Faenza-based squad finds itself embroiled in a fierce battle with Alpine for fifth place in the Formula 1 constructors' championship. Amidst this strong campaign, the Red Bull sister team faces a pleasant yet challenging dilemma regarding their driver line-up for the upcoming 2027 season.
Both Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad have delivered solid points-scoring hauls throughout the year, earning widespread praise for their performances on track. Their ability to extract maximum performance from the car has proven crucial in the closely contested midfield fight.
However, the internal dynamic has shifted with Red Bull junior driver Nikola Tsolov being heavily linked to a potential F1 promotion while contending for the Formula 2 title. With three exceptional drivers vying for only two available race seats, the team leadership acknowledges that a difficult decision is looming on the horizon.

Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane emphasized that the outfit occupies a unique position in the paddock, balancing immediate competitive needs with the responsibility of nurturing young talent for the broader Red Bull program. Speed, consistency, and future potential sit at the very top of their evaluation checklist.
"I don't want to give a definite date, that's not going to work," Permane told media including RacingNews365. "It's going to be in the coming weeks. We're not in a rush. Everyone knows we've got two fantastic drivers, we've got a fantastic driver in F2 at the moment. They're all there and ready to go, but three doesn't fit into two, of course. We're just going to take a little bit more time and make sure we get the right pairing for next year.">
