Fabio Quartararo will end his long-standing association with Monster Energy and switch to Red Bull starting January 2027. This move is a direct consequence of the new agreement between Honda and Red Bull, which will return as a sponsor of the HRC factory team in MotoGP from the 2027 season. The deal was revealed by GPone and confirmed by Autosport.
Quartararo, who is set to become Honda's flagship rider from that year, must leave Monster—Red Bull's direct rival—after a close relationship since his MotoGP debut in 2019. According to Autosport, Honda has had to cover the compensation stipulated in Quartararo's contract with Monster, which extended beyond 2026. The Frenchman is expected to wear the red-and-blue bull logo for the first time on his new prototype during the test in Valencia on the Tuesday following the end of the 2026 championship.
Red Bull's return to Honda comes four years after the energy drinks company decided to stop advertising with HRC at the end of 2023. At that time, they invoked a clause in their agreement that allowed them to terminate the partnership should Marc Marquez leave Honda. Marquez did leave for Gresini after agreeing to waive the final year of his contract, and Red Bull followed. Now, in an unexpected U-turn, Red Bull will reverse that course in 2027.
Autosport understands that the Red Bull logo will be considerably more prominent than during its previous spell with HRC, when it essentially appeared on the lower part of the fairing and on the front mudguard. This signals a larger commitment from Red Bull to the Honda project, which is striving to bounce back after several difficult seasons.
Meanwhile, Monster has yet to decide whether to scale back its presence at Yamaha or disappear completely from the factory M1 fairings. This decision will impact Yamaha's sponsor lineup, which must also adapt to the ever-changing MotoGP sponsorship landscape. The battle between Red Bull and Monster for exposure in MotoGP is heating up, and this move marks a new chapter in their rivalry.
