The international three-wheeled racing scene has experienced a notable resurgence since the management of the Sidecar World Championship returned to the hands of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) this year. The restructuring initiative, driven by paddock insiders Michael Breitenbach and Eckart Rosinger alongside their organization Sidecar Partner, is widely regarded as a major success. By significantly reducing entry fees, the championship successfully achieved its goal of attracting a substantially larger grid of competitive teams.
As previously reported exclusively, a long-held ambition to host an event in the United Kingdom will officially materialize next season. In mid-May, Donington Park will host a race organized in collaboration with the British Motorcycle Racing Club, informally known as Bemsee. Because a round of the British Sidecar Championship is scheduled to take place at the same venue shortly after, organizers anticipate a strong influx of interest and participation from local British teams.
According to the provisional calendar for the 2027 season, the action gets underway in late March with a double-header at Le Mans. Notably, this season opener will no longer run as part of the Endurance World Championship package, but will instead be integrated into the French national championship framework. Early May will then see the entire paddock travel to the former Grand Prix circuit in Grobnik, Rijeka, prior to the much-anticipated trip to Donington.
The schedule further confirms that traditional venues such as Schleiz and Assen have securely locked in their dates for the upcoming campaign. The intense battle for world championship supremacy is once again slated to culminate with a thrilling season finale at Oschersleben. The only remaining question mark for the provisional calendar is whether the championship will visit Spa-Francorchamps or Cremona for one of its key European rounds.
With entry barriers lowered and a robust mix of historic circuits and new UK representation, the upcoming championship tier aims to build on the momentum generated under the renewed FIM stewardship. Teams and manufacturers now await the final confirmation regarding the remaining venue slot as preparations for the 2027 season accelerate across the paddock.
