BIOGRAPHY

Sergey Olegovich Sirotkin is a Russian professional racing driver most notably known for competing in the Formula One World Championship with Williams Martini Racing. Born in Moscow on August 27, 1995, Sirotkin began his motorsport journey in karting at a young age before graduating to single-seater auto racing at the age of 15. His immense natural talent gained international recognition in 2011 when he won the Formula Abarth European Series title with Euronova Racing. Following this early breakthrough, his racing career progressed rapidly through various prestigious feeder categories, including the Auto GP World Series, Italian Formula Three, and the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. In the 2012 Auto GP season, he finished third overall in the standings and set a record as the youngest race winner in the history of the championship. Sirotkin drew further attention from the F1 paddock after joining the Sauber F1 Team as a test driver in 2014, making his official Free Practice 1 debut at his home Grand Prix in Sochi. He solidified his reputation as a top-tier prospect with outstanding performances in the GP2 Series (later FIA Formula 2) during 2015 and 2016, claiming back-to-back third-place finishes in the overall championship while also serving as a test driver for the Renault Sport F1 Team.

The pinnacle of Sirotkin's career came in 2018 when he was announced as a full-time Formula 1 race driver for Williams Martini Racing alongside Lance Stroll. Supported by the SMP Racing motorsport program, Sirotkin showcased a strong work ethic and exceptional technical intelligence behind the wheel. Despite Williams struggling throughout the season with an uncompetitive FW41 chassis, Sirotkin delivered persistent performances and scored his maiden Formula 1 championship point with a 10th-place finish at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. After his full season drive, he remained deeply embedded in the sport, taking on the crucial role of official reserve driver for both the Renault F1 Team and McLaren during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Beyond single-seaters, Sirotkin successfully transitioned into sports car endurance racing, representing SMP Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the GT World Challenge Europe, and the Middle East Trophy. His technical expertise, determination, and relentless fighting spirit cement his status as one of Russia's prominent modern racing talents.
