Lorenzo Savadori

Lorenzo Savadori is an Italian professional motorcycle racer who was born in Cesena on 4 April 1993. He has built a long career across several categories, including junior racing, 125cc, Superstock 1000, WorldSBK, MotoE and MotoGP. After competing as a professional rider, Savadori also developed into one of Aprilia Racing's important test riders, contributing to the development of the RS-GP prototype.

Savadori began his racing career at a young age and in 2007 was selected to compete in the inaugural Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. He immediately demonstrated his potential by winning the opening race at Jerez and finishing the season as runner-up. The result provided an important foundation for his progression into national and international competition.

In 2008, Savadori won the Italian 125cc Championship and also secured victory in a European 125cc Championship race at Albacete. Those achievements earned him an opportunity to compete in the 125cc World Championship as an Aprilia wildcard rider. He subsequently competed at Mugello, Misano and Valencia before receiving a full-time opportunity in 2009 with Fontana Racing.

After his time in the 125cc class, Savadori moved into the Superstock categories. He competed in the CIV STK and FIM STK1000 Cup before claiming his first STK1000 victory at Monza in 2012. He finished fifth in the championship in both 2012 and 2013 before improving to second overall in 2014.

The peak of his career in the category came in 2015. Riding an Aprilia RSV4, Savadori won the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship after recording four victories and seven podium finishes. The achievement earned him a move to WorldSBK in 2016. In the premier superbike championship, he gained valuable experience competing against established riders and consistently fighting for strong results.

In 2017, Savadori began developing a closer relationship with Aprilia's MotoGP project after receiving an opportunity to test the RS-GP at Misano. Two years later, he moved to MotoE and competed in the inaugural season of the electric motorcycle world championship with Trentino Gresini MotoE.

In 2020, Savadori returned to Aprilia's MotoGP project as a test rider. The role allowed him to become directly involved in the testing and development of the RS-GP. His work as a test rider eventually led to a MotoGP opportunity at the end of the 2020 season, when he replaced Bradley Smith for several races.

Aprilia subsequently gave Savadori a full-time MotoGP seat for the 2021 season. He competed alongside Aleix Espargaro while continuing to bring the technical experience gained from his development work. Following that campaign, Savadori returned to a stronger focus on testing and development duties, while continuing to make occasional MotoGP appearances as a wildcard or replacement rider.

Over the following seasons, Savadori remained trusted by Aprilia for testing programmes and selected MotoGP appearances. He has contributed to the evaluation of various motorcycle developments, including chassis, aerodynamics, electronics and new components. His racing experience has made him a valuable part of the development process because he can provide feedback based on direct experience on the track.

In 2026, Savadori remains part of the Aprilia Racing project as a test rider. His career represents a progression from junior racing in Italy to becoming a Superstock 1000 champion, WorldSBK and MotoE competitor, MotoGP rider and ultimately an important test rider contributing to the continued development of the Aprilia RS-GP.
