With the new technical and engine regulations in 2026, Aston Martin placed high hopes on legendary designer Adrian Newey, who surprisingly took over the role of Team Principal at the end of 2025, replacing Andy Cowell, who was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer.

However, as of March 2026, the team is facing a period of turbulence. The new Honda RA626H engine has experienced severe vibration issues and reliability problems since pre-season testing, which has significantly hampered the performance of the AMR26 chassis. Following this early-season crisis, Adrian Newey reportedly stepped down from the Team Principal position after only four months in charge to focus purely on the technical and design aspects of the car. Currently, the team leadership seat is vacant, with strong rumors suggesting that high-profile figures like Jonathan Wheatley (Audi) or Christian Horner are being targeted to take command.

1. Jordan Grand Prix Era (1991 - 2005) Founded by eccentric businessman Eddie Jordan, Jordan Grand Prix was famous for its iconic yellow cars and its ability to launch the careers of talented young drivers. Their most historic moments included giving Michael Schumacher his Formula 1 debut in 1991 and achieving a sensational 1-2 finish at the 1998 Belgian GP through Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher.

2. Midland F1 & Spyker F1 Era (2006 - 2007) Due to financial issues, Eddie Jordan sold his team to the Russian Midland group in 2005. Operating under the name Midland F1 (MF1 Racing) in 2006, the team failed to shine. Just a year later, the team was sold again to Dutch sports car manufacturer Spyker. Spyker F1 lasted for the 2007 season before being sold once more.

3. Force India Era (2008 - 2018) Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya bought the team and rebranded it as Force India. Over a decade, Force India built an outstanding reputation as a "Giant Killer" or "Best of the Rest." Despite operating on a much smaller budget compared to works teams, they managed to secure 4th place in the Constructors' Championship in 2016 and 2017, thanks to brilliant design and management efficiency.

4. Racing Point Era (2018 - 2020) In mid-2018, Force India fell into administration due to legal issues involving Vijay Mallya. A consortium led by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll saved the team from bankruptcy and renamed it Racing Point. In 2020, they sparked controversy with the RP20 car, dubbed the "Pink Mercedes" because of its striking resemblance to Mercedes' 2019 championship-winning car. However, this car successfully brought Sergio Perez an emotional victory at the 2020 Sakhir GP.

5. Aston Martin Era (2021 - 2025) Lawrence Stroll acquired a stake in the luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin and rebranded his racing team in 2021.
